Positive Reframing

I’m sure you’ve had the experience of going through something you perceived as frustrating, negative, or trying and your thoughts immediately went to a negative place.  For most people, our natural immediate thoughts following a frustrating situation are not positive.   It’s okay to honor whatever those initial thoughts might be and allow yourself a few minutes to have whatever reaction you need to have, however, the next step is equally important.

We need to work on changing our perspective on frustrating situations so that we’re able to come to a more positive or neutral place.  Our perception of events really have a huge impact on our mood and actions.

Ask yourself: what’s the positive—or neutral side of this?  How can I express gratitude in this moment?  What lesson might I learn from this?

Be well.
