Self-Care Assessment
This is a self-care assessment that can help you get an idea of what you’re doing well and what you should put some extra energy toward. I like to take a holistic approach to self-care. I see it as something to be done on a very small scale, daily basis and also on a larger scale. When you feel like you have no time for self-care, that's absolutely when you need to be doing it.
The self-care I do daily involves checking in with myself throughout the day to see how I feel and what I need. Here's what that looks like...and obviously you will have to adjust it to what's realistic for your life...say I'm working longer hours or am very tired/stressed when I get home but I had plans to clean/do laundry/catch up on paperwork. I will check in with myself and if I'm feeling too stressed, I will put off what can be put off and spend some time relaxing that evening. Or on the flip side, say I am in a good mood or have tons of energy when I get home, I might take my dog for a longer walk, go out with my spouse, or do something different at home like have a game night.
I also try to do little things on a daily/weekly basis to improve my self-care. That can be small things like saying no to things at work if I'm overwhelmed, ordering takeout instead of cooking if I'm tired, outsourcing things in the home like online grocery ordering so that there's more time for fun/relaxing on the weekends. I like aromatherapy oil diffusers as well. They are wonderful tools for helping you relax. Think about what some things are that you could do to take better care of yourself. Be well.
